We are proud to announce our participation in Art Platform – Los Angeles. We will be presenting a solo exhibition of new work by Neil Haddon.
Haddon’s work is held in prestigious collections such as the National Gallery of Victoria, ArtBank, Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery and the Gold Coast Arts Centre. He has been the recipient of many prizes and awards including the $30,000 2008 John Glover Prize for landscape painting and The Whyalla Art Prize 2009. Haddon has also been a finalist of the 2011 and 2012 Wynne Prize – Art Gallery of New South Wales. Most recently his work was included in Theatre of the World, curated by Jean-Hupert Martin at MONA, Tasmania.
Haddon’s experience of living in Tasmania informs his artwork and he attempts to find his own sense of belonging by redistributing images from the local media stories to the language of painting. Characters become disconnected from their original context as Haddon applies, then removes successive layers of high-gloss enamel paint. A collection of six new paintings will be exhibited at Art Platform – Los Angeles, September 28–30.
