Victoria Reichelt’s new work widens the imagination regarding the endangered condition of our world. Wild animals traverse the landscape of libraries… Acknowledging the vanishing status of both as technology changes and environments morph into the unknown.

Natasha Bieniek + Victoria Reichelt at Gippsland Art Gallery

August 30, 2012

Two of our amazing artists have exhibitions opening next week at Gippsland Art Gallery, Sale:

Natasha Bieniek: She Hangs Brightly
The miniature portrait was created as a form of keepsake – a memento of a loved one to keep close to the heart.
In She Hangs Brightly Natasha revisits the miniature in a suite of new paintings, which also recall the rich colouring and tonality of seventeenth century Dutch painting.
Exhibition dates: 18 August – 7 October 2012

Victoria Reichelt: Catalogue
The playful paintings of Victoria Reichelt linger somewhere between geometric abstraction and hyperrealism. Catalogue features new and recent works to explore book spines and library shelves as sources of unexpected aesthetic delight. The works consider the motivation behind the collecting impulse to form a colourful essay on our love of books.
Exhibition dates:  8 September – 4 November 2012

The opening of both exhibitions will be held on Friday 7 September 6pm and will be accompanied by artist talks from both Natasha & Victoria. We’re looking forward to it!

For further information please see the Gippsland Art Gallery website.

Natasha also has a solo exhibition at dianne tanzer gallery + projects from 20 October to 17 November 2012. Please e-mail dtanzer@ozemail.com.au to register interest.
