Donna Marcus has earned a PhD at Monash University, Melbourne, 2006 and a Master of Arts (Visual Arts), City Art Institute (University of New South Wales) 1988.
Marcus has held numerous residencies overseas such as the Studio Residency Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris, University of Tasmania (1995), Inaugural Global Arts/Sofitel Artist in Residence Sofitel Hotel Melbourne, Xiandong Academic Exchange – Griffith University, (2007), Australia Council Skills and Development Grant (London Studio Residency) Arts Development Grant, Arts Queensland (2001).
In 2009 Donna Marcus was commissioned by Cox Rayner Architects Curator Jacqueline Armistead, Brisbane, Brisbane City Council ABN Amro + Denton Corker Marshall for STEAM Brisbane City Square and King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In 2010, Marcus was the Queensland representative for the Australian Pavilion, World Expo Shanghai, and her work is now part of the New Contemporary Art Museum collection soon to be completed in Nanjing, Jiangsu.
Marcus' work has been acquired by a number of prominent art collections including: Artbank, Ballarat University, Ballarat Regional Art Gallery, Brisbane City Hall Collection, Gold Coast City Art Gallery, Griffith University, Kunst von Frauen in der Sammlung Ulla Pietzsch Berlin, Parks Victoria, Pat Corrigan, Power Ombudsman of Victoria, Sale Regional Gallery and the William Dobell Foundation.
Recent solo exhibitions include Slip, dianne tanzer gallery + projects, Melbourne (2011); Re-entry, Fed Sauare, The Atrium, Melbourne (2010); 360 °, Sofitel Hotel, Melbourne (2010). She has also participated in several group exhibitions including Australian Pavilion Shanghai, World Expo Shanghi- Queensland representitive (2010); and White Hot, dianne tanzer gallery + projects, melbourne (2010).
