New Thread, Shaun’s initial show with Dianne Tanzer Gallery as a represented artist is just that. O’Connor still wrestles with ongoing themes of public mark-making, gesture, and obscured script, but the maturation of his practice is evident. Shaun gives his register of found inscriptions a reductionist treatment in this large painterly installation where singular hand-made marks form a pattern of discordant rhythms with immense presence. The context of this progression is illustrated via a range of studies and supporting works.
